Kenya hosts over 120 species of amphibians and over 300 species of reptiles. There are at least 147 Snakes, 140 Lizards, 5 Sea or Marine Turtles, 5 Land Tortoises, 7 Terrapins or Fresh Water Turtles and 1 Crocodile species, in the country.
Kenya’s Herpetology is at its peak in this decade; with new species being discovered and described each year.

We shall depart early and head to Ngong Road Forest; where our Herpetology Day Tour will take place.
At the forest, we shall scan local rivers, dams and forest trails seeking local species.
Species to expect include Nile Rocket/ Ridged Frog, Anchieta’s Rocket/ Ridged Frog, Northern Clawed Frog, Athi Reed Frog, Senegal/ Bubbling Kassina, Scheffler’s Puddle Frog, Kenya/ Dickerson’s Forest Gecko, Tropical House Gecko, Kibonoto/ Mt. Kilimanjaro Forest Lizard, Jackson’s Chameleon, Common Striped Skink, East African Garter Snake, Brown House Snake, White-lipped Snake, Olive Sand/ Grass Snake and Mt. Kenya/ Meru Tree Snake.
In the late afternoon, we shall head back to Nairobi, marking the end to our lovely herping tour.
